Dynamic Views in Odoo

Odoo is a suite of business management software tools including CRM, e-commerce, billing, accounting, manufacturing, warehouse, project management, and inventory management to name a few. Odoo provides ample customization opportunities to tailor the workflow to your needs.

Odoo can be implemented On-premise or In cloud or you can also use an Odoo.sh instance. Odoo is available in 2 versions one is community and another one is enterprise. Community version is free to use and customize any way the user desires. Enterprise version is a paid subscription that comes with a lot of out of the box features which are Quality Life upgrades.

When you’re using Odoo sometimes you might want to limit the number of columns that Odoo provides or you want to see some invisible fields for some reason, For this, we have modules for kanban and list views to hide and show fields.

Let’s dive into the pros and the usage of these modules to help you decide whether these modules make sense for your particular application.

What do these modules achieve?

  • These modules allow you to hide and show some fields from the list view, as well as the kanban view.

  • These modules also preserve the selection of fields for each user, meaning that the list of fields hidden or shown is saved for each particular user for each particular view.

  • These modules allow you to show the invisible fields in a particular view.

  • You can also limit the numbers of fields that are shown to avoid congestion in a specific view.

How to show/hide fields in the module?

  • Go to any List or Kanban view.

  • On the top left side of the view, you will see a button called Select Column(s).

  • When you click on the Select Column(s) button then a menu will appear.

  • Select all the columns you want to show.

  • Now Click on the Apply button, all the fields which you have selected will be displayed in the view.

  • Also, This selection is preserved user wise for each list view.

  • This means that if a user admin selects some fields for the list view of the Sales menu and clicks on the apply button, then it would save that selection for the admin user for the sales menu list view.

  • For each list or kanban view of each menu, this selection will be saved for each user.

  • The selection of the fields is saved into Odoo and it will show the same fields when you go to that view again.

I hope you found this information helpful. Take a look at our modules dynamic list and dynamic kanban on the Odoo marketplace. If you have any questions, ask in the comments. If you need help with other services, please check out our services.
